Airplay 2 casting dongle for an HD TV?

Hi guys

Not sure if anyone is more clued up than me on this, hope so - I want to be able to Airplay Apple Fitness+ from my phone/iPad to my cheap 1080p TV in my exercise room. Apple TV will of course do this, but it's £150 and a new one is due out and it has loads of features I really don't care about.

Is there a dongle which will do it WITHOUT having to install a shady app on my iPhone? IE Natively supports airplay 2?

I have an iPhone 11 and iPad Pro 12.9 2019 model if that is at all relevant.

You could pick up an older Apple TV box on ebay for £20-30.

Do you need to AirPlay or could you plug a cable in? Apple sells lightning to hdmi dongles.

I could plug it in, but I’d rather use wireless. Good call though, I may look into that. As for older Apple TV boxes, are the Airplay 2? Would they stream okay to a 1080p TV?
