Very Few GT Cars For Sale Across All Model Years
Discussion
I've not really been following these forums much of late but have had my nose in the adds quite a bit,I'm amazed at the total lack of GT cars for sale across all model designations
For example there were circa 140 plus various 991 GT variants for sale not that far back
At one point there were also circa 7/8 996 GT3RS, you could take your pick of red/blue and choose low medium or high miles
There are currently very few 991.2GT3 where again not that long ago you could find your ideal spec quite easily
I noticed it's the same on Autotrader
There seems to be no end of Ferraris available and Aventadors are plentiful although the Huracan Performante are now in short supply
Any thoughts,it's hard to think this is being driven by a great economy

Friend of mine had been looking for a 991.2 GT3 and was surprised how quickly nice CS main dealer ones sold.
He missed one that had been up for sale for about 24 hours, about a week later they sent him details of another one fully prep’ed and another in his favoured colour that had just come in that day.
All 3 were reserved within about 48 hours and one was to him.
He went to pick his up yesterday but thought better of it in the sleet and rain so just saw it in person for the first time and from the photos it looks fabulous.
He has wanted one for a few years but moved house to one with a garage just before Christmas so it was just timing for him. He didn’t want to wait until spring thinking availability would shrink and prices would probably be on the rise then.
When things are feeling better and restrictions eased I think there will be lots of people whose jobs are safe looking for toys they have always promised themselves.
A pretty darn awesome first Porsche.

Some may be financed by recent government grants!
Which is exactly how the chap who bought my Cayman GTS last year paid for it...https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-981-Cayman-GTS-...
It is quite curious how few GT cars are on the market....given time of year and the fact everyone knows there will be a new one launched within a month.
I do wonder if people have bailed out of Ferrari given the horrendous year Ferrari residuals have had and bought a Porsche or two thinking its a safer place for your.money ?

all the clients Porsche lost over the years have all just about come back lol
Most people don't have true Ferrari money.

I'd guess the main reasons are:
1) COVID - Not the best time to be trying to sell a car with COVID restricting due to viewing complications and test drives.
2) Time of Year - better to sell when the weather is warmer.
Cars that were up have sold and the lockdown has put others off.
This ^ plus economic considerations.1) COVID - Not the best time to be trying to sell a car with COVID restricting due to viewing complications and test drives.

Also, the general ‘used’ market normally gets more stock in Jan and March when the ‘year’ and ‘reg’ dates change.
This year, 1 Jan deliveries have been very subdued, for obvious reasons

To be fair it's not just GT3's it's the same old cars which have been on the market for weeks. Boring watching.
Actually probably quite a good time to put your car on the market if you've got something interesting that you want to sell as there are people working from home, bored and feeling flush as they aren't spending money.

Prices have dropped so the flip market has gone.
Those sell that need to and those that don’t like the prices keep their car - So normal market.
Also, the trade part of equation - no one wants to buy stock so there’s less movement too.
That's an interesting point. The GT car that has the most cars for sale as a % of cars is the 991.2 RS WP...there are quite a few and they are still at a decent premium. Those sell that need to and those that don’t like the prices keep their car - So normal market.

And yes despite being so busy I don't think there are many dealer writing cheques right now.
I bought a 991.2 GT3 today. I was up at 5.30am to head down to London for work and afterwards meeting with a work colleague to hand over some equipment.
Where the car was located was actually a shorter distance but not main roads which was fun as was sheet ice.
Anyway bar testing driving due to sheet ice + Cup 2 tyres + Covid restrictions I did manage to inspect the car for a good 45 minutes.
Showrooms are closed, forecourts are closed but service bays have remained open. Yes frowned upon and certainly a grey area but this dealership staff have Covid tests weekly and I had one Saturday (work requirement) as well so fairly decent precautions that side, also the car was put on inspection ramp Friday and left there for me today without anyone between.
Certainly not ideal but distance selling law means I've 14 days to reject car anyway and to be honest for the price I paid, respectable dealership, warranty etc, I'm as happy as can be.
From my perspective I think what I paid to what the price will be in 2-3 months will be £5k lower than the going rates, time will tell but it's exact spec I wanted with the likes of Colour, PDLS, PCCB, 918 Seats, Axle-Lift, Extended Leather, BOSE, Rear Camera, full PPF, Chrono etc, etc under £120k, 1 previous owner and 4k miles and warranty.
