Sounds like a great idea... fit an elderly V8 based on a Sixties design instead of a race-derived V8 with far more power. It's a winner!

Its also true to say the Porsche 997 is based on a fifty year old design.

True, modern RV8 engines are based on an old design but have been improved and modified over the years.

As to the reasons for fitting a RV8, my previous Cerberas were expensive to maintain and unreliable.
My RV8 engined Cerbera has about 340 BHP, a huge amount of Torque, The best sounding exhaust note,(Griff and Chim owners know what I mean) Ran to Le-Mans and back without any trouble and returned over 20MPG, Used daily to and from work and school runs and has not missed a beat during the last year. Best of all, I can do any work required myself including re-mapping the ECU.
As I have said before, this car is not better than any other Cerbera, its just different and it suits my needs.

Thanks Phil, I will bear this in mind, how do insurance companies feel about a modification that is still TVR based? I have got griffith wheels on a chim, they may view this the same?
