Hello, first post, AM newbie/wanabee - looking at a 2011 Vantage standard car that is listed factory supplied with the wheel code "VH208 10Spoke Silver + TPM DT". The car's got 5 spoke lightweight wheels that used to come with the Sportspack, but its non-sportspack car. Does anyone know what VH208 10Spoke Silver + TPM DT.

That might be the AM code for the 5 spoke lightweight alloys. The only reference I found on the net was a a 2010 vantage wearing the sportspack wheels, although the context there is vehicle programme rather than wheels?
https://www.justastons.co.uk/listings/2010-aston-m...

as for the other bits of the code, the TMP is tyre pressure monitoring and DT is diamond turned.

incidentally the car above is almost identical spec to mine, including the rare lightweight seats, seems a good price as well.

DT is diamond turned (i.e. diamond cut) and TPM is tyre pressure monitors. Not sure what other info you're looking for but - it's the 10 spoke diamond turned wheel that was pretty much the default in 2011. Some were graphite or black, but it sounds like the ones on the car you're looking at were silver.

Yes, already speaking to Mark at JustAstons. They are a specialist in Cheshire and they have been really helpful.

Right so what does the "the 10 spoke diamond turned wheel that was pretty much the default" look like? Any chance you can refer me to what type of wheel you think is "default" for 2011? It sounds like that is what I was after.

I think its one of these;

Can't quite see the detail in the first pic, but it looks different..... but yes to the second pic! (although that's a graphite DT)

Thank you sir. I'm not quite sure why they would have changed to the 5 spoke, maybe in an attempt to make it look more N420ish and sports pack car. I much prefer the V-Spokes that we are concurring are the OEM fitted wheel. Something to factor into the price discussion (along with the clutch risk at circa 30k.

VH208 is the 2008MY Vantage. The Aston martin model code for the Vantage is VH2 (DB9 was VH1; Vanquish VH3, etc) Then they add two numbers for updates, usually at model years. So VH208 is an update done for the 2008 model year, which would have been released in late 2007. 10 Spoke Silver is how Aston would classify the wheel - it was a design with 10 spokes and it was painted silver.

Odd that a 2011 registered car could be a 2008MY...

I am looking for a set of 5 spoke Sports Pack wheels (painted not diamond turned), so if you do buy the car we might be able to discuss. I can understand though why you want originality, it is important to many Aston Martin owners.

Vantage clutches seem to end life at a suprisingly wide variety of mileages. We have heard on here of 5,000, mine went at 17,000, but some go on to 65,000, maybe even more. It does however give an opportunity to change to the much better twin plate version.

It’s more likely that the particular wheel was introduced at 2008 model year. Once it’s released the part number and description doesn’t change, even if it’s used on later model years.

This is the standard 5 spoke Sportspack wheel. (Some may recognise this car?)

Well I did buy the car (not arrived yet) and just investigating some V Spoke options on eBay but early days. I'll post back when I've got it.

Congratulations on your new car Andrew. An exciting time for you. Wonderful cars, where every trip is special and during present difficulties, they still look very beautiful whilst hibernating.

Please send me a note through the PH private message system, when you are ready.

Enjoy your car.

David.

That is a bit odd now you mention it, must be that it was supplied with 2008 range wheels? The Model Year 2010.75, Program Codes VH209 10.75my V8 Vantage Coupe.

Will do, I'm currently trying to work out if front and back wheels are different on the V Spoke and if I can swap the almost new Bridgestone Potenza tyres over (might be an excuse to get a set of Michelin Sports!).

Front and back wheels are different widths on all Vantages.

I think this was explained in one of the other responses

My 2010.5 has the 10 spoke silver diamond turned option. It was also a non sport pack car. They appear near identical to the later sport wheels but are only 9.5j at the rear not 10j.
[url|https://thumbsnap.com/My3QKTWn[/url]

They are forged and the lightest option of that era. They are imho a much better option than the later cast V spoke.
