After a crap start to the year I’m going to cash in some investments and treat myself to a fun, occasional use car that puts a smile on my face. I’m not a driver’s driver by any means, so aesthetics are more important than on-road ability, although the latter would be nice. Here are the criteria. I keep swaying between an Integrale & an Alfa SZ but I turn to the PH massive to help me broaden my horizons.

Budget is up to £50k-ish.

I already have a spritely Italian 4wd saloon which would be my daily driver and a L322 Range Rover for tip runs and long journeys in comfort.

No diesels.

Something fast.

No softops.

Preferably no two seaters.

Only French car I like is the 205 GTI. Nothing Japanese either; I find them capable but bland.

Anything from late 60s onwards considered.

Thanks in advance & I look forward to the answers...

A Ferrari 456 meets the criteria. They may look merely beautiful, but they are also very fast.

Maserati MC Stradale gorgeous to look at & a good steer to as well as an event to drive at low speed too.

I would have suggested an LC500 I know you said no Japanese but these are a very good drive but the prices have firmed up so they're out of budget now but you can get the V6 Hybrid not as sweet as the 5.0 V8 but a very good (I'd buy the Maser or find the extra for the V8) option.

V8 Vantage with a chunk of change left over is where my money would be.
