Lockdown boredom got me to thinking about future model designations and when they might arrive, so I thought why not have a sweepstake.

Assuming the eventual replacement for the DB11 is a DB12, when would you expect it to arrive in showrooms, and will it be primarily ICE or EV powered?

I'll go for May 2025 and ICE.

A virtual drink to the (eventual) winner.

Your post made me head to the registered designs database run by .gov, and under Aston Martin there was some interesting activity in 2020. Given this is in the public domain I feel it is ok to post about it.....

In particular I rather liked the ones from March 2020 which look to me like the new faclifted Vantage (wild guess) - and if it is - and it looks that good I would definitely take a serious look at one....

The march 2020 ones look like the one off thing they did. https://www.businessinsider.com/aston-martin-victo...

way too bulky and tract looking for a vantage facelight

Surely they will use the DB12 name as a last hurrah for the V12 engine.

Will have to change the naming or skip a number after that as I can't see them doing a DB13.

I had not seen these .gov web pages before today. Thank you.

https://www.registered-design.service.gov.uk/find/...
(click Illustrations, then on the diagrams)

I can remember finding registered designs years ago, for the traditional front grille and side strakes, but these .gov pages are much easier to peruse. Cannot understand why drawings of the current Vantage should be shown as registered on 21 Jan 2020. It does not make it clear if they are in fact renewals.

Do you think we are allowed to post any of the drawings on here?

.............................

Discussion of a brand new model (DB12), raises the age old Aston Martin conundrum.
We don't yet know, but hopefully the DBX sales are reversing the traditional outflow of cash from AML.

If the DBX sales falter then the old problem continues, of having to find enormous sums of money to spend on designing, developing and achieving regulation approval for new models. Mr Stroll's plan is achieving publicity for Aston Martin through Formula One racing, to increase sales of the present range of models and therefore increase Company revenue. How long will his patience last, if the 'road ahead does become bumpy'?

To illustrate the vital importance of DBX producing cash, at present the Company have said their sports car sales have not met expectations. They do not see the Valkyrie project being profitable. Money is presumably now being spent on Valhalla and Vanquish. Does that take us to 2024?

I think the link above expired jon.

surely the DB12 will be many years off and probably based on an updated db11 chassis.

It seems like the Jan 2020 designs are also the victor.

My original post did have some posted, then I wobbled as felt it was morally questionable - so I removed them.

It is interesting that some of the submission have had the images removed - which I wonder if that is for confidentiality reasons?

The bit I found interesting is that if you look closely at the Victor drawings, certain elements (the front end) is circled in red - suggesting that is the bit they have sought protection on - which is why I wondered if it was something they may use elsewhere?
