sick of the shocking response time from HL re trying to contacting them by phone. Was about to set up a monthly plan.

Their customer service has taken a nosedive.

Usually takes 20 mins to get an answer no matter when you call!

I've found when you do get through the people are very knowledgeable. I'd rather have that than quick response but unknowledgeable.

I have a HL account and am thoroughly fed up with their charges and customer service. I've gone to iweb and am slowly moving all my funds to them. Whilst you don't get the fund discounts that HL have negotiated, you also aren't carrying a 0.45% annual charge plus the share trading is £5 per deal. Yes the fund center isn't as good but I can still access that through HL. I also have a vanguard account but this is pretty limited in fund selection although is quite cheap.

I transferred anything that was with HL to Vanguard - about 18 months ago.

HL customer service used to be peerless, anywhere, in any industry.

These days they take ages to answer the phone and I'm still waiting for an emailed response via their platform for a query I sent them on December 8th.

Quite a shocking fall in standards.

BTW - HL cost is high for funds but not if you're investing in ETFs.

Same here. No choice with my SIPP, but everything else has gone to Vanguard, other than a few quid I play with on T212.

HL is a fund platform not a trading platform.

I think that their closest competitor is AJ Bell. I have a SIPP with one, and an ISA with the other. I haven't had any problems with service from either, but I like AJ Bell better as a business. I suppose that this is a result of HL pushing all manner of funds, apparently on the basis of the benefit to them rather than to me.

Is that a general email or secure messaging in your account? I recently moved some shares into a SIPP and found the latter to be quite responsive.
