I have brought this up in a couple of threads already, try again.

I note that the Scottish government and the pro EU population seemed to be quite happy to take the vaccine ahead of their EU partners, why is it that the Scottish government did not wait until the EU approved the distribution of the vaccine?

This was asked on Politics Live and the SNP representative (I forget who it was) said the Scottish people pay their taxes and are entitled to the vaccine, but that is not the point.

Now we have the argument with AZ and the EU, will the Scotts be happy to surrender their vaccines to the EU, well parts of it as Poland, Hungry and others are having their supply restricted.

I generally like AE threads. They remind me of the AE-35 unit in 2001 a space odyssey.
Transmitting weird poetry to a confuddled world.

Yes I am sorry I should have titled the as a Jab at the SNP.

However no it is not a joke, just a few days ago the SNP where attacking the PM for suggesting they would enforce their fishing rights using the navy, they are forever demanding independence and alignment with the EU so why are they not sticking by what they believe in?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uxG9Id-bVg

Here again we have the SNP claiming they would be better off following the EUs vaccination program!

Not sure if this is the correct thread, but I do wonder if Sturgeon saying she will publish details of vaccine stocks against the express wishes of Westminster might backfire now the EU is going all gung ho.

If Westminster were to say "we are shipping no more vaccine to Scotland until you withdraw your threat to publish details of how much we send" it would be massively milder than the EU preventing people from receiving pre-ordered and paid for supplies.

Sturgeon has a massive wake up call if she thinks the EU are going to welcome her with open arms and allow them to be a net receiver of EU funds, it will not happen and a country leaving the UK with no currency and an inherited share of UK debt is not going to be an attractive proposition when the EU present the bill for joining, she can sell the fantasy that they are just like Norway but that's simply that...a fantasy.

They may well vote leave but will also sell themselves down the river in doing so...

She can publish what she likes, if they are our stocks (in the hands of the UK gov and not AZ) then what can anyone do send a gun boats to get them? She'll mark herself out as an opportunist revealing sensitive data to outside countries for internal political gains, hardly what you want in a leader of a country.

Don't expect any senior member of the SNP to admit, even in private, to any positive aspects of being in the
UK, fatty Blackford has them well trained.

Had Scotland been granted Independence in 2014 and were now in the transition period before
joining the EU, while the rona rides rampant through Glasgow [ a very good thing IMO ] one
can only guess at the expressions on the envious wee faces gazing over the English border as
the new UK start their vaccine programme.
Why would it be good that Coronavirus is running rampant though Glasgow?
That would appear to be a fairly disgusting sentiment!

It’s increasingly embarrassing to be Scottish at the moment. Sturgeon and Blackford don’t speak for the majority in my experience. They’re determined to use COVID as a springboard for independence, hopefully come May there’s enough of us with enough between our ears to realise it should be the exact opposite.

In response to the OP, the answer is because Sturgeon’s a massive hypocrite.

Let her follow the EU vaccination programme and we’ll see how “European” the Scots are then.

Your user name suggests you are more to the loyalist background, are you sure it is not your echo chamber which is convincing you of your position?

Have you seen the recent polls?

I don’t live in Scotland and have not skin in this game, it is a genuine enquiry - not veiled aggression

Cheers

Why would she do that when she is in the UK now?

She may not want to be, but for all the perceived downsides that she has to accept, why not accept any upside?
What would have happened in an Scotland in the pandemic is whataboutism of the highest order.

Justifying you have to stay because you would be so much worse off without us, is patronising paternalism of the worst kind.
I thought the days of Empire were over?!

The "polls" should be examined for their source, the vast majority recently have been arranged by two pro-indie organisations and the results have been decidedly "interpreted" e.g. asking how much people support staying in the UK on a scale of 1-10, 10 being completely and 1-9 taken as support of independence.

After '14 the independence movement needed to persuade the middle ground, instead they've swung to their hardcore; I see little evidence of the middle being won over but a lot of attempts to deceive and bury bad news which may or may not be sufficient; the approach has hardened many "soft-No" voters to flat-out "NO!" for no reason other than utterly despising the current administration.
