Fuel sender 356B

Hi guys
I am trying to source a fuel sender unit for a 1963 Porsche 356B that I am restoring.
I need a unit which reads 73-10 ohms.
The gauge is a VDO make and the corresponding VDO sender part number is 221-012.
Sounds straightforward enough, but I cannot find anything in the U.K.
I don’t mind if it’s an aftermarket equivalent as long as the range is correct and it works.
I originally purchased a sender from Design 911 which is for the 356 but it is zero ohms upwards and needless to say the gauge is reading backwards.
Does anyone know if the early beetle senders read high ohms empty and low ohms full?
I have contacted three or four suppliers and not one of them could tell me.

I wonder if your 356B fuel sender is the type used for only one year that fits from the bottom of the tank? I don't know anything about these, but I do know a little about the type fitted to my 356C
The fuel senders are pretty simple things really. They respond really well to a little fettling. If it is reading backwards, then the wiring within the sender just needs a little attention.with a soldering iron.
Can you take the old one apart? Maybe post a picture or two?

Seriously, don't bother buying new repro stuff when your old unit can be made to work with just a little fettling. The odds are the old one is much better quality anyway.

That’s what Prill do....they generally repair/refurb the original parts. Seriously, don't bother buying new repro stuff when your old unit can be made to work with just a little fettling. The odds are the old one is much better quality anyway.
