longest time spent on a project

what's the longest you have had a car laying in your garage as a project .

For me its a 1970 MK1 capri thats followed me in three house moves ................since 1986 /

now to be fair in that time I've rebuilt an E type , ( 4 years) and rebuilt a Lotus 22 .............which needs rebuilding again ..and during lockdown rebuilt the mk2 3000 capri . must get round to getting the mk1 Capri back on the road

No, but I've had my 996 7 years and it was on the road for 10 months before I broke it. New engine is now in, so on the home straight now! The only problem is when a car is laid up, everything that was ok before now needs fixing. I.e caliper rebuild, paint, etc..

Not my garage but I spent three years trying to buy a car that had lain in a commercial garage for nearly 30 years. And I failed.
