Ridden a couple of these and was quite shocked to see them around the 8-9K mark? Obviously the base model but surely a bit of a steal when you see Gixxer K6's up for 6-7K?

Any bike is only worth what someone will pay for it.

I keep saying to people who want to sell their bike or think they are being offered too low a price to go on ebay and look at completed items, not the ones still for sale.
Look at what they sell for, not what people want for them.

Agreed, but 2015 S1000RR's sell for 10-12K all day long. It really seems like a forgotten bike, although only 3 years old?

It's maybe hedge-fund managers selling them cheap.

Buy them all up and they will be kicking themselves...

Presumably you’re also looking at the one owner 3k miles 2018 SP model at £9995 through Chiswick Honda on eBay at the moment. I could trade my 98 R1 in for it! wink

A mate bought the SP2 version (for £23k!) three years ago. A large part of me fancies buying it just to annoy him.

We could succeed where John McGuinness and Guy Martin dismally failed!!

Same in Switzerland.
Even SP go for low price.
Same will happen with the current model.

Not sure about that. Isn’t the latest one a complete redesign and liable to be much better in racing?

For the average rider the earlier version would be more than good enough to pootle around on the road with the odd trackday.

The ones around the 8-9k mark are Ex Ron Haslam Race school bikes , if you look it’s always mentioned in the description.

I did briefly consider an SP model to swap from my Ducati to as they were great value, but I came to my senses and bought an R1M instead.

That's similar to mine - sold for £5600 in 2010 and probably still be worth that now. I thought good one's were still £5-6k although they may have gone up.

For £6-7k it would need to be exceptional.

Still one of the finest ever sportsbikes IMO.
