Didn’t really think about it until just now but seeing as Shapeways is effing expensive at the best of times does anyone know if buying from Shapeways now incurs additional charges? I don’t want to buy if there is going to be a Post Office handling charges or extra VAT levied.

And no I didn’t vote Leave.

Wouldn't you be better off asking them? wink

(Anything under £135 shouldn't attract any other charges AFAIK).

£135 is the boundary for import duty, under that you still have to pay VAT I believe

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jan/21/b...

Don't forget they will also add on a admin fee, so lets say you buy £50 of stuff, + 20% = £60 + £12 admin fee (some are higher I believe) = £72

You could look around for a uk printing service - a lot of them are commercial and aren't viable for a few bits and pieces, but there are still some - be worth a search and getting online quotes - you just upload the STl and it tells you right away.

3dhubs used to be good, they had a network of hobbyists etc that would pick up the quote and do the printing, but they abandoned that and went commercial and prices went up about x10 for small orders.

The main factor for them will be how they process VAT for a uk customer. For some companies the cost is prohibitve.
If you need parts often it may be worth getting a 3d printer yourself, they are improving all the time and the support for them.

Lots of 3D printing in the UK.

Arrk for example, but loads out there.

If it is something in plastic, there are loads of hobbyists that will do stuff too.

I use treatstock a fair bit - it’s kinda like 3dhubs were before they went mental.

Cheers all! I think it’s the 135 quid threshold and it’s only a twenty quid item so I should be ok.
