Firstly, apologies for starting a new thread that is CV focused. Please close or merge with another if this topic is covered elsewhere.

Just to point out, I am English, so this post has a focus on England because that's where I live.

Regarding vaccines & sharing with other countries, it seems to me that we've got two options:

1. Focus on vaccinating the target population (i.e. all adults) in England. Lock the borders down even tighter than they are and return to normal living in England ASAP.
2. Get the over 60s done (or wherever the vulnerable cut-off is) and then switch to magnanimous mode and help out the rest of the world (starting with Scotland, Wales and NI) to get their vulnerable populations vaccinated.

Looking at the age demographics of Covid deaths, logic would dictate that option 2 is the best.

Instinctively I want option 1. However, I think that option 2, whilst having a slower start on the return to normality, will be better in both the medium and long term.

Given the Novavax and Johnson & Johnson phase 3 results, I suspect that we will have plenty of vaccine to spare within a couple of months, so we won’t have to choose, which is a happy thing.

If we did have to choose, I agree that option 2 is the right path.

you may have a problem with leaving wales and scotland untill england has been vaccinated.

you might want to look at where some of the vaccines are produced/planned to be produced let alone the issue of the union

Jesus H Titty fking Christ - this was an attempt to start a discussion on the approach to vaccination and all it takes is 2 replies before some fkwit starts banging on about either scotland or wales and how important they are.

It's not really relevant to this thread - include them if you like, ignore them if it's easier.

you are the (to use your word) fkwit who posted about vaccinating england before the rest of the uk, i think the scots might have a word or two about sending vaccines produced in scotland to accomplish that.

But it's not just about having the vaccines is it?

England is already ahead of the game - are you suggesting that the Scots are going to restrict supplies until they've caught up?

Just vaccinate everyone on this island (and the little ones around us, and NI) and only when everyone is done then help out the rest of the world, on a needs basis.

The developed nations can wait while we help out those who need it most.

With British flags on the bottles.
