Recommendations for remote car battery charger
Discussion
Hi Folks
I am thinking of buying a remote car battery charger. The type which you can take anywhere and can charge the battery, while plugged to (say) your charger inside the car. Basically, I don't want one which needs long crocodile cables.
Can you kindly recommend anything? Does it depend on the type of battery already fitted?
Thank You

I still don't know what you want - what's a 'remote battery charger'?
Do you want a car battery charger which plugs into the cigarette-lighter socket? And if so, what do you mean by 'take anywhere'? Powered by plugging into a 240v house socket or (as already suggested) by solar/something else?

The answer is - Yes that's exactly what I mean
So you've answered half of the question, what about this bit...In response to the above question:

The CTEK comes with eyelets for the battery terminals which saves you pissing about with crocodile connectors on the battery itself. Once you've fitted the cable, you can plug/unplug it at your will. Hopefully this helps, but basically you just attach the CTEK charger via that little plug thing (having already fitted it to each of the terminals using the eyelets solution) and connect it to the mains and then you can do on your merry way.
The battery is underneath this black trim, and you can just see the CTEK connector sticking out

Close up if you can't see it

Then you connect it all up

As suggested above - the CTEK is probably the way to go.
If you do decide to use the ciggy-lighter socket, you must first find out if it is permanently live, or you won't be able to charge through it. This isn't as easy as it sounds because some of them have a timed shut-down delay of up to 30 mins, and may come back to life if a door is then opened.
Also, if you're going to put the wires through the door seal, pick the right place which won't shear the cable and won't provide a path for water ingress.
