Thinking of a change and i have been looking at the Audi s5 . Anyone have any experience of this model, the v8 or the v6? Are there any major problems to be aware of? Real world running costs?
Another choice in the running would be the Mercedes e class coupe, preferably petrol. Same questions really.

I have an S5 convertible with the 3.0 V6 supercharged. I've also had an S4 with the 4.2 V8. Although the V8 sounded great through a non resonated milltek, the 3.0 is a better engine. I've had a stage 1 APR remap to mine, and the DSG was done too. I have to run it up super unleaded, but it made 450bhp on the rolling road, and goes very well. It can also crack 30mpg on a run if driven sensibly, or less than 10mpg if not driven sensibly!

The S5 is a good car & reliable I think the design looks fresher (& I own an E500 coupe) the main thing you should budget for is a carbon clean due to the direct injection.
With the E Coupe try to get a 500 the 350's are nice & smooth but you have to work them whereas the 5.5 & 4.7TT are effortless.
It all depends on how much you want to spend?

Probably looking at a v8 but undecided if manual or auto.
Spec seems to vary a lot on these, would like the folding rear seats but they seem rare?

What is involved with a carbon clean and how much approximately?
I have had Mercs for years now and fancied a change but quite like the e class coupe. Cant find a 5.5 or 4.7tt, probably rare as unicorn poo.

The general gist I get from the above is that they're more of a GT and feel heavy and not very engaging to drive. With a few mods they are a great car (exhaust) and few people that own them regret buying. Though interesting to notice that not many have kept them.
