Is cash in Ireland (Euros) subject to Inheritance tax in the UK? Thanks. Tried googling but not coming back with any information.

I'm not an accountant, but to my understanding, all the deceased's assets (domestic and foreign) should be included in the valuation of their estate.

If it is actual cash, then the person counting the notes & coins to tally up the total for inclusion on the appropriate paperwork should take care to be as accurate as is necessary.

My other half is Irish and we have dealt with a couple of family members estates. IIRC the rule of thumb is if you live in the UK then yes its counted. However, if they were non domiciled (or whatever its called) then no, its exempt. Best bet is to ask the solicitor (or HMRC if you dont have one - they have a help line).

IANAL.

Where are you resident for tax?

Where are you domiciled?

Where is the estate?

Sounds like it will fall within the remit of UK Inheritance Tax then.
