Change of interior question please
Discussion
I'd like to change the interior on my 2007 335i, black is boring and fancied a change... I have all electric memory front seats etc but NOT heated and the interior I found was a bargain, but had heated seats, none of this bothers me, but the question is, would the seats have corresponding plugs or is it a different loom? Some bloke is selling a complete interior as he is converting to track day car, roof lining, door cards EVERYTHING for 200 quid. Most scrappers sell seats and cards for 500ish quid in the condition this one is in and selling carpets the lot!!
Personally, I'd rather ditch electric seats as they weigh loads and I'm the only driver so they never get moved so why would I want to carry that dead weight around, however mechanical seats probably aren't an option as all sorts of lights would flash up on the dash no doubt

As long as they're pre-LCI, they'll go straight in. It doesn't matter that you won't be using the heated seat functions. No error codes to be expected, plug & play.
I actually retrofitted heated seats to my E90 LCI using seats from a pre-LCI, there were a couple of pin differences but not many. It's a straightforward job, followed by a little coding. Happy to share the instructions I used at the time if you're interested.
If you were considering a swap to manual seats, again they will go straight in. The only thing to throw a light is the side airbags, seat belt stalks and (on the passenger side) the occupancy sensor, and that circuitry is separate from that of the seat electrics - so again no issues.

Brilliant thank you very muchI actually retrofitted heated seats to my E90 LCI using seats from a pre-LCI, there were a couple of pin differences but not many. It's a straightforward job, followed by a little coding. Happy to share the instructions I used at the time if you're interested.

No worries. Information is slightly more difficult to come by now that NewTIS is closed, but it's still out there. On the memory seats, my understanding is that they have a seat module fitted. If you went manual, the car would know the module was disconnected, but it wouldn't particularly care. You might get an error code using a full-car reader (Ediabas) but not a dash warning or anything like that. You could remove the seats from the VO.
I have the official instructions for retrofitting heated seats; it's supposed to accompany the official retrofit kit, but if you're buying seats with the heater elements in, it's so much easier (you need car-side wiring, the heated seat buttons, and coding). The instructions have the wiring diagrams too.
The part numbers are irrelevant, but just for completeness, the heated seat retrofit kit part numbers are:
61110391644 - E87 manual seats
61110413834 - E87 electric seats
61110400883 - E90/91/92 with manual seats
61110405003 - E90/91/92 with electric seats
