Clear Rear light lense

My car is currently in with Hiltons having had some repair work done after my neighbour reversed into it. It's been with them for 5 weeks now and they've just phned to say its all complete apart from the lense needed for the passenger side rear light which they are having trouble getting hold of. I've got the facelifted clear lights with the 4 clusters.
Does anyone know of any dealers who may have one knocking about as TVR themselves are out of stock.
Looks like I won't be seeing my P&J until at least next weekend (16th) :weeping:
6 weeks without I doubt I'll even remember what it looks like let alone how to drive it!!!!!!!!!!!

Try Neil at tvrcarparts(/www.tvrcarparts.com/) I got a rear fog light from him (99 Chimaera) I think £16

Certainly is, theres a bit of a supply problem apparently. Hiltons have tried god knows how many dealers, tvrparts the same. Just a real bugger when your P&J is completely finished but can't be released due to such a small part.
I'll see how their getting on by Friday and then start trying the breakers.

Have you tried any of the breakers?
Just put TVR breakers in the search engine and the first one it came up with was Douglas valley breakers and they claim to be breaking 75 TVRs and if you click on the TVR link up pops a picture of what you are looking for. Doesn't mean they have any of course, but worth a try if you haven't already. Even if it was a less than perfect one as a temporary measure.

I managed to find one at TMS so they dont have one now, Just phone round the dealers, also Gorners dont have one.The big thing is that they should get out their stock and check on a car since you will find that all dealers have both sides labelled the same so without checking they cannot say if they have one. Alternatively take the car , it still works! Give it them back when one arrives. Thats what i did last week.
Well, there is another option, and its not that hard.
Take a mould of another lens from the back of somebody's car, get the correct thickness of perspex sheet and with a heatgun bend it into the mould. Then cut around the edges, clean the edges up, and glue it in.
You could even knock them out, using tinted perspex to the colour of the car, and make a tidy profit

It's my understanding that for a car to be legally driveable it must have fully intact rear lamp lights and lenses/covers. They are not supposed to be even cracked. I await being standed corrected by more knowledgeable folk than I.

The problems I have with taking it without the cover are;
- Is it legal?
- It would look bloody awful
- The light unit behind the cover is painted the same as the bodywork - I do not want this to get scratched/chipped etc as this would then create another expensive repair.
- The cover protects the individual lenses - again I don't want to risk these getting damaged.
- It would also be very difficult for me to get back to the bodyshop when they get the lense in, wait whilst they fit it/bond it in and then get home - Hiltons are 60 miles away from where I live.

I drove mine around for two weeks. what else do you do? Consider this, the front light is a sealed unit like the back and on a very small percentage of the Chimaera production they encased the headlights in perspex. Does this mean all of the TVRs without the enclosed headlights are breaking the law?
