Hi all.

Is anyone else experiencing severe issues with imports from EU? As in, quite unreasonable delays beyond “teething problems”?

I have a pallet that was sent from our parent company in Scandinavia to us here in UK a month ago now. It is several thousand components a customer of mine was expecting a couple of weeks ago and is now on production line stop.

The forwarder is being next to useless and say it’s out of their hands. They were waiting originally for other customers of theirs with goods on the same trailer to send customs docs before the whole thing can be released (why they didn’t think to use a bonded warehouse I don’t know.) So we were beholden to third parties completely unconnected to us firstly.

Now the forwarder says they have the required docs but it will take a “while” to clear.... no ETA, no “this is what we’re doing about it”... nothing.

I’m trying to work out if this is what is really happening at the moment, or am I being given the run around by the forwarder?!

Edit to change to PORTS in the title!!!

Pretty standard at the moment. Obviously some companies are better dealing with it than others. But everything we have moved is delayed by many days or weeks. (in both directions)

Don’t think I can name and shame without falling foul of the forum rules frown Large Danish forwarder....

Everyone along the chain just seems to be shrugging their shoulders and saying “ah well that’s brexit for ya, what did you expect” !

It’s just the lack of any helpful information or commitment that’s making it worse. Not looking good at all

I've got the reverse problem, I sent 2 containers from the UK to the EU 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for them to clear customs.

I had a lorry wait 15 hours at a German Amazon depot to be turned away last week as they didn't have the staff numbers to check the stock in

And I've had a lorry / container waiting outside Shanghai docks for 5 nights now, and the poor driver is still waiting to get into the port whilst his family wait the other side of the country for him to go away for Chinese New Year.

Not to mention the hugely increased costs to do all of this.

To say supply chain is challenging right now would be an understatement.

Its a nightmare, stuff is taking a week to get through customs into UK, it helps if your EORI number is in the docs.

Shipping to europe is also a nightmare, the customs deparments in various countries are making it up as the go along
