Anyone used any of the online trade in companies? Apples trade in offer for my IPad Pro 10.5 is a tad stingey at £180. A quick Google shows a whole load of companies offering up to £275 for it. I’m loathed to stick it on eBay or Gumtree as the battery is a bit past it’s best.

ReBuy seem to get very good ratings on Trustpillt.

I have used these guys https://ipad-recycle.co.uk/sell twice now. Very quick payment and no hassle at all.

I sold my 10.5” on eBay last week for £325 with a folio case, so I’d say bite their hand off for £307 without the faffing!

CEX usually pay up a reasonable amount, especially if you still have the box. Have sold them a few bits and pieces including a smartphone and most recently a Google Stadia controller.

I’ve sold a fair few iPhones to Mazuma mobile and had no issues.

music magpie for me. also have a look around as there’s usually a discount code/ bonus code kicking around that can get you an extra 10% (usually capped at £20/30)

sold 2 x iphone XS’s and then an ipad over xmas. very prompt with payment and the postage is already covered. package the items up and turn up at the post office and off it goes

Have used both Mazuma and Music Magpie in the past, both were great.

Traded my Apple Watch 2 in with Apple this year when I picked up a new series 6 and it took nearly 2 weeks to get the reimbursement.

Just to update this if anyone’s interested, I ended up using Musicmagpie, and wish I hadn’t now, they offered £306 in the end, sent it through to them, bearing in mind this is an unmarked fully working IPad Pro, I’ve just received an email offering £27.90 claiming evidence of water damage to the screen. I wiped the screen before sending it to them, doing as Apple themselves recommend with a slightly damp lint free cloth. I’m fking fuming, if it comes back damaged there will be ars3s kicked, mad

I had exactly the same experience. Same as you I was fuming when they said it was damaged as to me it looked immaculate. When I got it back and looked it over when the screen was off it looked like water spots. Can’t see anything when it’s on.... . There is no water damage but it does look that way.
Sold it on fleabay a week later and got a bit more for it after fees. No comebacks so in the end it worked out okay.
Still annoying.

Well, it’s arrived back in one piece fortunately, although I note they didn’t bother putting it in a box as they recommend you do… just put it in the original IPad box, and in a plastic shipping envelope. frown hence I now have a very dented box which was previously like new. mad

Here it is, the water damaged IPad Pro worth £27.90 punch

It may look and work fine - however if the water indicator is activated it is indeed classed as water damaged.

The water damage they claimed was evidence of spots on the screen, not immersion, I’ve had it from new and it’s not been dropped in water.

Music Magpie have lost my iPad pro I sent in and have effectively stopped communicating now. They have also removed their phone number for customer service.

Letter before action sent and will issue summons in 21 days.

Blimey, what happened then, are they claiming they never got it or lost it once it arrived?

They won't tell me, still say they are investigating but provide no detail and have previously told me all sorts of nonsense. Royal Mail says it reached them. I thought EDF were a bunch of see you next tuesdays but Music Magpi are proper examples. Next time I'll just give the items away to family or friends for their kids.

It unto you (obvs) but I would still check the indicator - it can happen very easily and doesn't mean submersion at all - examples such as a headphone jack being inserted that has a water droplet on the end of it can activate it.

Plus depending on the humidity of the package it was sent / returned in that could have activated it too.

It'll hinder resale prices to anyone if activated.

There is no visible indicator on new Ipads, how are you supposed to see if its been activated?
