My 986 needs a new battery, I have removed the battery from the car and believe it to be a type 110 battery. However, I noticed there was an extra hole in the battery tray to allow the fitment of a longer battery.

I've googled it over and over and am struggling to find definitive answers. I would like to fit the biggest/best battery as its not a daily driver and where I park there is no option for a trickle charger/solar charger.

The only information I can find on Google lower spec cars had a 096 battery whilst others had a 110. But I can't find anything about a bigger battery? Does anyone know what is the next size up from 110 and does it fit ok?

Also I've read about people fitting agm batteries and suggestions that all porsche supplied batteries are now agm for the 986. Can anyone else confirm this and is the additional expense worth going down the route?

Any views?

You also have the option of going for a lithium ion battery, so it’s worth checking around to see if anyone else can recommend it. They should have lower self-discharge.

They tend to have 096 or 110 batteries.

Your battery tray probably has 3 holes but often only 2 are actually threaded and can be used. The shorter one is for an 096, the one further away (usually the middle of the 3) is for a 110.
