Hyperoptic FTTP
Discussion
I’ve had their service for 3 years. Service generally very good - can get around 1000mpbs which is pretty crazy. Good that it’s symmetrical too.
I did have one outage which took 6 days to fix which I thought was a bit poor. Turns out someone had disconnected me from the patch panel elsewhere in the building for some reason. Took 2 mins to fix once someone turned up.

I'm using Hyperoptic and it's pretty awesome. I'm on the 500mb package and it does exactly what it says on the tin.
The only downside I've found is that I'm limited to about 300mb/s because that's as quick as the WiFi goes - if I stick a network cable into the router I can consistently hit 500mb/s on a speed test.
Only one outage in the last 6 months, they were installing in another apartment and unplugged something they shouldn't have done at the cabinet
Fortunately I grabbed them as they were leaving and they sorted it out in a few minutes.
I've found their customer service to be very good too.

That’s very reassuring to hear, and thanks for taking the time to respond. I’ve been told they they now use a Nokia router that is limited to 500mb on Wi-fi, but obviously full speed on Ethernet if your package is above that. Is yours the Nokia router or it’s predecessor? Mine is a ZTE router, think I might have to give them a nudge and ask for an upgrade
We have it here in Newbury, dire! Connection is lost daily some times most of the day and earlier in the month nearly five days! Customer service has been varied from good to downright rude. Go else where if you can. We will be looking to terminate possibly this week, we have been waiting to see the improvements promised but still waiting. We are in contract until September but cannot WFH with this tripe so will no doubt seek to terminate with reference to all outages recorded as a breach of contract hopefully.

Thanks for the feedback. We’re in a position to have an overlap of several months with our current provider, plus can have the free 3 month trial to check out the reliability. What is your setup btw, are you in an apartment block or was it fitted to a new build you moved into? normalbloke said:

We are in a block of flats now nearing ten years since bult. There was no Fibre install on build, why??? There was a push with offers and some other residents spoke highly of Hyperoptics. When the BT service seemed to falter (not fibre) with all the increased loading due to COVID and WFH we decided to switch in September. It's hard to remember when the connectivity problem started to be noticed but became very apparent this year. They (Hyperoptic) said there has been issues with power supplies within the complex but we have seen nothing to support this. The strange thing is our BT back in Cumbria (Fibre One) has been stable out in the sticks. BT are now offering Fibre Two in the Newbury Flat complex but only with the TV packages.
