But delivered Morecambe.

Argentina will have to wait for another week because the new grill has not yet arrived.

So what constitutes English food ?

I think it has to be pie.

To start Cornish crab, pork pie, and Roll Mops. Brown toasted Warburtons. Local draught beer.

Then the main event.

A mix of home reared shin beef and stewing steak braised in ale with carrot and onion for 4 hours.

Hot crust pastry.

Goose fat chips.

Some really good English cheese to finish.

(There was a Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding with proper custard, but it was camera shy. )

I enjoy these threads, keep it up! We did a few themed weekends in...one of the other lockdowns.

Can I enquire about the roll mops though? I love them but I wasn't aware they were incredibly Englishy!

With the decoration on the crust, I thought that might be the famous Korean Sausage Dog Pie!

I think they are generically "Northern European" - present in UK / German / Nordic culture as they were an easy way to store and transport fish - and herring is easily landed from the North Sea.

Given the quality of all your posts I can't wait to see the grill.

Can we have a clue? Or do we have to wait?

We have ordered this rascal to replace the existing grill which was ok, but a little flimsy.

The pie was fab.

These pie devices are an essential tool in the pie conjurors tool kit.

Hot water crust is very easy to make. This fella explains it.

And this fella shows how to mould the pastry.

I find its easier to bake the pie then remove the springform. Otherwise the sides of your pie can collapse if the filling is too heavy.

Is the grill for indoor or outdoor use?

The Argentina style grill has become my favourite way to cook

The grill replaces this cheaper one outside in our bbq / lockdown pub.
