Would the dog owners of PH find it useful to have a wiki of (checked) resources/ links / articles and articles about common questions that arise?

As a trainer I have lots of great stuff I can share. And I often hear about things like free webinars going on (especially in Lockdown).

Just a thought- if people would find it useful then I’m happy to put a little library together smile

Yes please, we have a 9 week old Vizsla, so this would be really useful.

Cheers

Yes please. Thanks for such a generous offer.

Some Ph thread can attract some really argumentative types, but this area of PH is such an oasis of calm and compassion

Ahhhh that's great, I wasn't sure if people would be interested.

I was thinking to signpost to credible organisations so people can find excellent professionals in their area. Rather than individuals. However I might include individuals who I know personally are properly accredited or particularly good in their subject area or people who run great online courses while we are stuck at home a lot.

I often see stuff 'advised' when questions get asked on FB and the like, by well meaning 'Karens' that is either out of date or isn't really a good idea for your dog (potentially damaging). And also well written articles dispelling common myths etc. Generally just promoting good husbandry, training and interesting topics.

I'll see if I can remind myself the formatting to do a Wiki biggrin

If there are particular subjects of interest please add them to this thread so I can include them.

Piece of advice. If your SBT manages to sample some Yorkshire Tea... Every cup you ever make thereafter will be accompanied by the "Share It Now" face...

Luckily ours doesn't like tea, the bloody cat does and always tries to stick her paw in the wife's cup. We now just decant some tea into a Gu ramekin for the little idiot rofl

We had this problem with Lexi ( x JRT and what I now suspect is Cairn/Westie). When we got her home, Swimbo made a cuppa tea. Lexi sat there wondering where hers was. So we gave her some. She loved it, but with her being a very active dog we worried about caffeine and decided to try her with milk.
on the "what information would I like to see" wiki, my preference would be a list of things not to let your pet eat. I know about onions/Garlic etc for dogs, but I've yet to see a definitive list.

That’s a really interesting suggestion. I’ll see if I can get some info because I’m not a qualified nutritionist and it’s important that anything I put on the Wiki is a quality resource.

I do know a nutritionist who advises on herbal supplements so I’ll ask if she knows a good list. Leave it with me smile

On this subject, if your contact knows of anything to use to aid an older Parson JRT with arthritis in her front legs, that would be really useful. TIA

She does, there are natural anti inflammatory things you can add - my 4 are all on a personalised herb supplement plan I’ll add her to the Wiki this evening.
It’s a Facebook group where you can search or ask for general information or you can add yourself to the ‘waiting list’ for a consultation. She takes about an hour getting history and then puts together a recommendation for supplements. I’ve seen a big difference in one of my dogs in particular.

but I’ll also add the Canine Arthritis Management group- they are brilliant and there’s heaps of resources available via them.

Great, thanks for that
