Sense check - Heart over head
Discussion
4 years ago I bought the car I wanted when I was a kid - a Midnight Blue over Blue 996 C4s. It is extremely clean, full suspension refresh with coilovers, new rads, IMS upgrade - genuinely wants for nothing.
It's my baby, it's been on many road trips and is full of memories.
Secondarily I badly want a 997 GT3. I cannot justify two cars that I would ultimately use for the same thing - Sunday mornings and road trips. I have a Yaris GR coming in for running about and we have a family car.
On the face of it, it's a no brainer - sell the 4s and buy a GT3. My heart though tells me not too.
Nice problem and all that but, any thoughts?

I went through a similar ‘journey’ dreamed of C4S, found a great one (996 all the options including X51). Had some great road trips and track days. Lusted after GT3. Sold C4S. Bought GT3 (991 rather than 997). Haven’t looked back. Both great cars, but very different. And if you have a GR Yaris coming, a GT3 will make a nice car to have alongside.
They only difference is that I had a few cars in between, so wasn’t a straight exchange.

I love my 997 C4S and have also had it for many years and adventures, so understand where you're coming from. Personally have no desire to change as it does what it needs to for me right now (family trips, fun weekend car, etc.).
But, life is short and shorter still I see the window of opportunity to enjoy amazing petrol engined cars like the GT3.

And this is the real battle-emotion. I feel like every time I read the threads about instantly regretting selling cars I see that ahead! But, life is short and shorter still I see the window of opportunity to enjoy amazing petrol engined cars like the GT3.
I realized long ago that I really love engines and a nice car helps sell it to me. The GT3 is a whole package. To be continued I suppose.
