Hi,

I need four new tyres on my V12VS. Going for Michelin PS4S to replace the Pirelli Corsas.

Has anyone used the Kwikfit or Halfords home fitting services for their Aston?

Any good or bad reports?

Thanks in advance.

I've used a variety of mobile fitters and never had any problems on any of my (non Aston) vehicles.

I suspect kwik-fit et al tend not to let their knuckle draggers loose in public. In any event the mobile fitters I have met have all been competent.

I used National Tyres to home-fit 4 tyres on my Range Rover, they did a good job at a very competitive price. The guy was very knowledgable, he looked at the mess a main dealer had recently made of fitting rears to my DB9 and explained what he thought they had done and why it wouldn't happen with him, so I'll be getting him back when the weather breaks for a pair of fronts on the Aston.

One thing I will say, is that I had to use a "National" tyre fitters for an emergency replacement on my SP10 a few years ago.....yep, the one with Diamond Turned wheels.

Luckily for me the guys took the time to have a good look at the car before starting (just chatting about it etc). Then when they replaced the tyre, their tyre machine chipped all the lacquer from the rim. They didn't argue at all and vowed to get it sorted.....(ie - I fix it they pay).

They were really sorry about it and couldn't have done much more to help. All I'm saying is, make damn sure you get photo's of the wheels before anyone touches them.........

I'd rather pay a good indy or MD to fit, even if I bought the rubber myself....peace of mind and all that.

Saying that, used Kwik-Fit mobile to replace all four boots on the Evoque and they were nothing short of perfect........polite, on time and helpful. Just not sure I'd want to use them on somewhat more expensive rims that's all.

Yup that's what I did, bought the tyres online through Camskill, got them delivered to the MD who then fitted them for me for £20 each and disposed of the old tyres. Win, win...

It's an extremely handy service they provide if you are happy to have the jack chucked anywhere under the car without any protection on the jack. My experience is to avoid these guys.

Do you remember the story on here a long time ago, about a Vantage jacked up carelessly by a tyre dealer?
The underneath safety beam, which has something to do with crash protection, was buckled.
Think the car had to be written off.

I'm abit OCD with my DB9 so when I need to replace my tyres I'll put the car correctly on axle stands in the garage, remove the wheels and take the wheels to a tyre garage, I've got a great one up the road I've used before and are extremely careful with my sportspack wheels.

Same for me mobile fitters tend to be very good. Try Nexen tyres they were superb on my Vantage.
