So after many months of waiting I picked up my Yaris GR today, very pleased to see that it is literally exactly how it came off the transporter with all the protection and even the numbers still on it.

They did think it was odd that a car was leaving their dealership in that condition but I had my reasons which were basically it was going straight to auto wax works for PPF and ceramic coating.

The drive was only about 10 miles to not a huge amount of time to test the car plus it needs to be run in but initial impressions are that I like how it sounds, I can already tell it is a quick car, the grip is immense (my first 4wd car) and that rear view mirror in combination with the infotainment is annoying! I did try turning the mirror sideways which does help but I wish they had just fitted a smaller mirror.

Looking forward to picking it up next week.

Zero plans so far, might be nice to have a stock car for a bit my m3 has quite a few mods and more planned.

Really like the scarlet red, saw my first GR on the road last week (coming off j24 M6 south if anyone on here) and they look really low/ wide stance in the flesh a mean little pocket rocket!

Makes all the black/white ones look rather boring, doesn't it?

Good choice.

It looks good in white as well, why they did two whites instead of offering another colour (blue?) is a bit strange.
I don’t think it is good in black as it seems to hide the shape a bit.

That red is easily the best colour it comes in to my eyes.

Did you test drive it?

Too many positive reviews to not ignore this. Not sure I can put a deposit down without trying it and dealers aren't offering test drives at the moment (or my local Toyota dealer isn't).

Seeing one of these is like when I first saw a VX220 or a Clio V6, and having that thought of 'I neeeeeed one of these in my life'.

Thankfully I managed to do that and one day, I'll own one of these.

Brilliant cars OP, I envy you.

Finally collected it today, looking forward to understanding more about PPF and ceramic protection when it comes to maintaining that shine and I got lucky with the collection timing.

Finally got it home so will get to work running it in after dinner!

Superb. I’ve got a white E92 also, so look forward to your thoughts on the two.

Have to say do like the colour you chose too.

They are deeply impressive for going very fast down fun roads. However, the engine has no sound when heel and toeing and the engine is quickly overwhelmed by the capable chassis. You’ll get to the point very quickly where you realise you can full throttle pretty much everywhere. I found this out within 20 minutes on a 1 hour test drive, in zero degrees on wet roads....it was quite frankly ridiculous and I got back deeply impressed but thinking...."If I can do that in these conditions, it’s going to be boring in the dry."

Thanks all, I put 50 miles on it last night trying it out on my local roads to get used to driving a manual again and I enjoyed it.

I love how little it is plus AWD is a new experience for me and one that I have to do a fair bit of learning with it but I'm looking forward to that, I'm not sold on the in cabin noise yet so switching that off and getting an exhaust may be on the cards.

Had two rather embarrassing moments so far and both were at the petrol station.

First was not twigging that the fuel filler cap was on the passenger side so pulling up to the wrong pump and the second was not being able to work out how to open the fuel filler cap! Turns out (thanks to youtube) the release is on the drivers side floor.

If work is slow today I might take it out again but if I am busy then the next trip with be Saturday to diddly squat farm shop as I need some breakfast food.

Lastly something that needs to happen asap is getting rid of that new car smell.

Took it down some of my favorite roads to compare it to the big V8 and stopped for a picture opportunity.

Something I have noticed is when pressing on the iMT is not great and it is better to rev match yourself but I am rather enjoying the feature around town.

Two weeks of Cotswold roads built up on it and now I am keen to see how easy the PPF and ceramic coating make cleaning it.
