Got a few raised eyebrows when I bought myself a new turntable, hooked it up to my amp and speakers, and then got the LPs out of the loft.
Sons: wow, look at those, how much music is on them?
Me: About 20 mins per side
Sons:
Youngest digs out his 128gb micro sd card holding all 70+ episodes of Sopranos in full HD.
(Having said that, they both play LPs now, take them gently out of the sleeve, cue up and drop the tonearm, check the strobe light and adjust if required)

A couple of years ago biker son had a flat battery on his bike. I grabbed the bike with ign on ran down the road and bump started it he was gob smacked.
When i introduced this into the house instead of the press button phone, the phone bill was cut in half. It took a day or two for the youffs to sus it out.

When i bought it, the lead from phone to wall socket has a modern wire (hidden in pic) with a small white plug (RJ11 ?) on the end.I have always suspected that if the mobile phone had been invented first, 150 years ago or whatever, and the wired phone had been a hot new thing in the 80s, people would have paid extra for the wired one.

B:Haven't got one. Got one of those new fangled wired ones.
A: So how do people contact you when your out?
B: They can't. I'm out of the loop. It costs a bit more but it's worth it.
A: How about emails and social media?
B: Nope, been out for 4 hours, not bothered with it.

B: Tough. I'm not at work, they'll have to wait until I am.

Mine are 12 and 13, they didn't initially believe me that there were no mobile phones or internet when I was their age. They seemed to struggle to comprehend this and asked me "What did you do?" which is a very good question we were never bored we just went out on our bikes until it got dark and then came home.
We went to a wedding when they were little and there were disposable cameras on the table so I showed them how to take photos and that you had to wind the film on to take another picture. Eventually she bought it back to me telling me it was "broken" and I explained that she had got to the end of the film. She then asked me how she could look at the photos she had taken........
