C200 Estate - Shady/No Service History - Walk away?
Discussion
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions/adivce here -
Found a Used Merc C Class (2018 Model Year) for a decent price. Miles are above average for it's age but that's of minor concern.
My issue is with its Service History, or lack of. It's now 2 Years old, with circa 30K on the clock, yet doesn't appear to have any Service History at all.
I've phoned my Local Merc Dealer and spoke with their Service Center and they confirmed it's never been Serviced in the Merc network.
The garage it's for sale at (big car supermarkety type place) are digging out the SH details for me they reckon they have, since they list it as having some. I expect this is perhaps either they've Serviced it when they've taken it in, or will Service it now pre-sale, since it's overdue anyway.
How damning is it that it's likely missed its first 2 annual services/almost 30K miles worth?
If it had at least had its running in/first service, then a a gap I'd gloss over it, but since its seemingly had nothing at all...
Thoughts? Thanks in advance

When I have had company cars they rarely get serviced at the main dealer. The lease company makes the service arrangements so the car goes to where they choose.
If it has service history then make a decision based on that.
Interesting thanks, I expect it will have been a company/lease car based on the above average miles and lack of info. If it has service history then make a decision based on that.
I also would have assumed that someone wouldn't keep driving around with a "Service Due" light for a year..but who knows. I expect there's an easy way to reset it "at home".
If the garage can come up with at least something to show it was done at some point in the last 2 years, that's reassuring enough so I'll give them that opportunity.
If they can't find the details of services then walk away and find another one. They aren't exactly rare.
Agree with a post above, company cars at my previous employer rarely went to main dealers. Went to the local small garage round the corner, who probably provided them with a VAT invoice on paper but wouldn't have the system access to upload various manufacturers digital service records.

If there's no proof you have to assume it never happened, so walk away & find another.
Thanks, the garage got in contact again late yesterday to let me know they couldn't find anything so I've walked away from this one. Seemed like too big of a risk and presumably would've voided any remaining manufacturer warranty too. scorcher said:
What’s the service interval on these? Some of the Merc vans are 2 years /37500 miles .
1 Yr/10K from what I foundThanks all for the advice anyway, I shall find another

Right plan, there will be others.
I was once given a Mondeo as a temporary company car and service light was on. Turned out original keeper had left the company when it was nearly 2 years old and due a service. It then got used as stop gap car when new staff were waiting for their company car. By the time I got it, it was on 90k coming up 3 years old... never been serviced / back to a garage, only had, had tyres fitted by mobile van.
Suspect that'll be far from unique.
It was handed back to the lease company on its 3rd birthday. I looked it up a while later and it had had its first mot 4 months after it was returned..... yep showing 24k miles.

Thought I'd pop back in and update this - walking away quickly worked out for the best
Picked up an identical (spec, age, mileage) C200 Estate today that on the face of it wasn't advertised particularly well, but on enquiry turned out to have Full Main Dealer History, and was a decent chunk cheaper too. Couple of small marks here and there but I was never expecting perfection so job jobbed.
Thanks all for the words of wisdom!
