Hi,
My 09 987.2 Boxster Basalt Black, Sports Plus Seats, 19 inch Sport design alloys, PDK, PASM is coming up to 60K miles. I bought it from an OPC with a two-year warranty. I plan on having it serviced there and purchase another year until it no longer qualifies for the warranty.
To be honest I'm quite smitten with it. It's not too fast like my brother's M4 Competition. On the road I found you couldn't really rev it out and even with the BMWP exhaust on it sounded like a 4 cyl. I like to come out of a corner, line her up straight then stamp on the gas pedal and hear the engine sing. With the M4 it was string a couple of corners, straighten her up and feather the throttle on the straight. It just wasn't satisfying, picked up speed so quick, you had to chill on the gas pedal, going instant ban speeds, you couldn't get stuck-in and enjoy the moment. I spent about 5K Sports Chrono, PSE retrofit, DSC v1 PASM controller & painted the alloys satin platinum.
The car now drives and sounds like I want. I bought it for the non-direct fuel injection, six-cylinder engine and hydraulic steering. My question is how long will the car last before it's too old, is 100K miles about the useful limit on these. I'll keep it serviced via the OPC as then you know they have used Porsche specified parts/fluids.
Thanks
Hayden

It'll last as long as you want it to I suspect. There was mention of a 997(?) GT3 with over 150k miles on it still going strong last year and Porsche still supply plenty of parts as do specialists.
Look after it well... and it'll do 172,400 and counting, photo from the other day... It's a 2007 997.1 GT3 as TwinFan says! Few previous owner frequent the forum, they've all played a part in adding!deebs said:
Scoring not generally considered to be a risk on the DFI engined cars (which a 987.2 is). Even on the 987.1 the usual chatter is the 3.4 is the riskier engine. So you're doubly safe, a non-3.4 DFI engine
Drive and enjoy
The 987.2 2.9 is non DFI engine the S was the first DFI engine for Boxsters...
Drive and enjoy
I think the mileage thing is particularly blown out of proportion in the UK, these cars can do mega miles if you look after them. It sounds like you look after it well so I wouldn't worry.
I now know a few people with a 2.7 Cayman and all rave about it, I feel I'm missing out and should try it someday!

I wouldn’t even give it a second thought.
My 1987 944 had 220,000 miles on when I sold it 3 years ago. My 1987 911 has 120,000 miles on, if we were allowed I would just put petrol in and hit the continent.
Yours has a bit of catching up to do,
I wouldn’t be bothering with that warranty either.

coolant pipes will need replacing at some point(maybe they have done it already?). Some of the OPC used to cover this but some not, claiming it's wear/tear. (Corrosion exists on both 987.1 and 987.2) Not expensive, but not easy job too.
I had the crossover pipes, drivers side window regulator, the driver side battery footwell charge point (wasn't working) fixed under the extended warranty. The passenger side window regulator has gone last week, So I need to get that sorted. The extended warranty I'll top-up till I can no more because of the PDK...dopsonj said:
