Has anyone swapped the bezel on their speedmaster? I'm thinking mine would be improved with a black bezel, and at 42mm I should think it would be an easy thing to do. I won't be selling it.

Apparently the bezel and insert come as one piece from Omega, would it just be a case of popping this one off and fitting a new one? I have a guy who could most likely do this for me (and possibly get the parts, although used would be fine with me)

The black bezel on the moon watch is an aluminium insert I believe but isn’t your bezel detail engraved straight into the case?

It’s engraved onto the bezel which is separate to the case.

Found this website and watched a few videos

https://tambowatches.com/can-you-put-a-different-b...

Seems to be straight forward, just need to get the correct size black bezel.

I feel like it will look quite good. The ones on that website look great with the black bezel.

One thing you may have overlooked. Yes, your watch is called a speedmaster but it's not the moon one as on the website. The moon one is a smaller watch.

I never seen the speedmaster you have with anything other than a metal bezel.

Yours looks like a later version of my broad arrow from 2004.

The ones on the website aren’t moon watches (Speedy pros) they’re Speedmaster dates.

Ref 3507.51.00 is the same case as mine (and yours I think, 42mm) with the black bezel - I’m sure there are others.

I’m on my phone now so can’t embed a picture easily but you can see an example here - https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/watches/wrist-watc...

Just need to figure out if mine is a 37mm or 37.5mm bezel but I don’t have a set of calipers here. I will have to buy a pair.

Nice watch by the way. Looks great.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the Speedy's. Never had any interest in them, so not that clued up on them.

All I saw was 39mm watch which isn't your one and gave a heads up. I didn't even realise that there was a black bezel for your model which i can see from your link. If that is the case, then it shouldn't be too hard to have the bezel ordered up and changed.

I think that you'll find the case will be the same, so the bezel will be the same if ordering a replacement bezel for the Schumacher. Then again, a set of callipers is less than £10 delivered on ebay.

The reason I bought the Broad Arrow at the time over the other Speedy's was the bracelet. The curved bracelet just looked more high end than the flat bracelet on the other Speedys. Mine actually sits on a black leather strap now as I prefer the laid back look on leather.

keep us updated on how the mod goes. Looking forward to seeing it.

It’s not the same model. The one with the black bezel was a limited edition launched the year prior to mine - extremely similar though.

They’re not too tricky to remove

But the cases should be as the strap looks identical, 20mm lug right? I guess you can confirm it by the movement caliber. What is inside yours? 3301 or 3303? If it's one of those, I think the bezel should fit.

Yeah, I think identical. That case and strap have been used quite a bit.

Finding one might be tricky.

I've ordered a bezel for a 42mm watch to try.
