I was certain the tariff I have had a 4 hour slot from 12.30am to 4.30am where the unit cost was 4p/kWh - this seems to have disappeared ....

Do any electricity companies offer a good " overnight charging " rate now ?

I'm on Go and still have the off peak tariff at 5p per kWh (including the VAT). What makes you think you've lost yours?

I recently switched to Go and my first bill was...messed up. Upon closer inspection, I realised the previous bill just before the switch was too. They’ve sorted the first problem from the tariff I was on before Go but not addressed the Go bill as yet.

I'm certainly supposed to be getting 5p units from 0:30 to 04:30....

Have a close look at the bill, you might find it’s simply messed up, rather than the tariff has changed.

Go has always been 5p as far as I know.
Octopus have a few variants called Go Faster with differing access times and durations, maybe one of these is 4p?

I'm out of the 12 months tariff and the new proposals seem to be fixed. I've emailed so hopefully they will resolve it .
Bit of a waste of time as neither our I pace nor E Tron works with delayed charging.... but it's good with the dishwasher ( which you can delay the start on ... at about a 20th of the cost of either car .... grrr )

Get yourself a Ohme smart cable

Transformed our charging, as like you we have a I-PACE

We now get 4hrs of 5p charging every night

Apparently 22MY I-PACE gets proper timed charging but won’t be backwards compatible

Hmmm... sounds like something they could do in a software update?

Jedlix app works well for to manage timing on my iPace and also apparently the Ohme app is coming the other cars, just started with Tesla.

That said glad I have the Ohme wall charger, just waiting for new smart meter to handshake and hopefully get onto octopus go faster for the 8:30 to 1:30 tariff to use some evening load aswell.

Wall charger 7kW/h
No way of delaying charge on I pace and Audi you need a calculator to work out what to do .

It’s 7kW. If you run it for an hour it added 7kWh of energy...

There’s a couple of ways to delay.

I’ve got a Rolec charger and added a SonOff switch to control the mains to the comms unit (not my idea). Works perfectly for charging my hybrid on 5p units, although my main reason for being on Go at present is to charge the Powerwall. Hope to have an EV one day.

Question for you guys on Octopus Go, since switching to this tariff, how do you find it works out with the rest of the usage of the household compared to other tariffs?

Only asking as I am considering switching as I have a PHEV on order and would charge each night, but don't want to lose whatever savings I can make on by charging the PHEV and finding my household bill has increased to the point where the savings are no longer there...hope that makes sense?

Thanks.

I changed from Simplicity to Octopus last year.
Due to the working from home situation, I'm not needing to charge ca 30kWh each evening.
The increased day time kWh rate of Octopus against Simplicity means that Decembers bill is £3.- more expensive with Octopus.
This is based on only charging the car with only 172kWh as opposed to the expected 600kWh @5p/hour and using 753kWh domestic @ 2p/hour more on Octopus day rate.
Also, as the sums were based on the commuting usage, I'm now £520 in credit.

I gambled that I would be back to commuting before the end of last year but that has backfired. (so to say).
I'll be reviewing the situation in July but until I start commuting again I wont really see any benefits so maybe back to Simplicity.

Surely that's a question only you can answer

e.g.

We don't know your day rate - you can look that up
We don't know what PHEV you have (or how much you plan to use it)
We don't know if you have a family or the size of house you live in or it's heating or cooking methods
Do you have a dishwasher/tumble dryer ?

etc etc
