What do you chaps do about framing photographs you take? And does anyone know of any decent places to buy frames? (Possibly online? Shops means having to interact with people - not too keen on that idea. :p)

I think that simple clip frames might be enough for what I'm going to be printing (mostly motorsport stuff so bold colours in the main), and A4 or A3 for borderless prints from an inkjet. Does that sound about right? Or can anyone give any hints of how best to show them off?

[bottomless pit] Frames eh?

I either get mine made up in a bunch by pros who do it to my spec, or I go to 'wilkinsons' (hides) where they do VERY cheap stuff - mostly end of line or bankruptcy ..and then frame myself and sell them for lots of cash [/bottomless pit]

For small quantities, The Range is very good. If you can order £300+, try WG Frames in Saffron Walden. You get free delivery by lorry and free pallet

I know I'll probably get booed off the forum for being a Chav, but Ikea do a good range of cheap wooden frames with mounts for virtually no money. Think the range is called "Ribba".

I've got a bunch of these and whilst they are cheap and cheerful I can't imagine anyone can spot the difference between these and the ones I paid a fortune for to be professionally done.

Funny you should mention this, as I was thinking about this today!

I've had a few of my prints done at a framing shop, and they charged around £40/50 I think for a frame that holds an A4 print in a 12" x 16" mount, and about £50/60 for an A3 (+ mount) frame.

Another framing shop I asked wanted > £200 for one!

I've also just found www.fastframes.co.uk who look pretty cheap, but I've not tried them yet.

I second dobbo's suggestion. IKEA have a good range of sizes if you only want plain simple frames (clip or wooden) without costing a fortune.

Cheers for all the suggestions chaps. If I were to buy £300 worth of frames, I'd be printing from now until Christmas trying to use them I think! IKEA's not a bad idea, but a bit far to go just for a couple of frames, so Wilkos it is. Thanks again all.
