A while back I built a new PC, carrying over an AMD 5700 XT which I’d used briefly on the old system.
In the new build I used a new Corsair HX 850 PSU (replacing a Corsair 750TX, which was fine, except it was over 10 years old, and non-modular, and i just wanted to take the opportunity to upgrade).

The PC, monitor, and various peripherals all plug into an 8-plug extension block, which then plugs into a single wall socket on this side of the room.
Everything runs brilliantly, except in gaming I get really loud coil whine (and very faint/occasional coil whine in normal PC usage).

Tried all kind of variations – different extension leads, the PC plugged into the wall directly, and everything else off an extension block from the wall socket on the other side…
Only one thing works – Plugging the 8-socket extension block into a Homebase 30m extension cable reel, which then plugs into the wall socket – and hey presto, coil whine is completely eliminated, even in the heaviest gaming moments.

Only reason im asking now is I was thinking about some new office furniture and would like to get shot of the extension coil. Just tried omitting it, and its back to the coilwhine in gaming. Worst case I’ll just live with it, but anyone got any ideas? Anything I can plug between the 8-plug extension block and the wall socket that will bring the same benefit as the extension reel, but take up less space?

I know nothing about electrics by the way…
