a man in distress went to this firm..

a man in distress went to this rich mutli franchise solicitors firm and paid them £200. He was not happy because firm took the money and didn't solve his case. So he asked for refund. then he left them a reasonable negative review.
being all smart legal clever people, the solicitors took the man to court and probaby impressed the judge with posh blobs. Now the poor man has to pay them £25000.
Moral: DO NOT SHOP at any online store, if they use trustpilot

Break GDPR law on their website

They track you on their website without any form of confirmation which is required under GDPR law. Since it's been law for well over a year I dread to think how many times this firm has broken the law themselves. I encourage all people that have visited their site to record proof of you being on their site and take these shady lawyers to court. I would advise suing for £25,000...

Taking legal actions against your…

Taking legal actions against your customers will do far more to 'defame' your company than a single negative review.

Companies like this should not exist!

I personally never used this company. But I would personally would never use their services.

If someone leaves a review about how bad they were treated, instead of trying to put things right. You decided to sue them. I would be scared to even deal with a company like yours. Well done, lol!

You should thank BBC for this review.

Bah! Humbug!

Bah! Humbug!
Who cares?
This is a non story which has encouraged negative reviews from a bunch of people looking for something to moan about.
They are giving these negative reviews without knowing the back story.
Trustpilot should remove the negative ones who clearly do not have a connection with the firm.
It is a terrible situation, when people who have no direct connection with a company, can seek to destroy them in this way.

Is all publicity good publicity?

Undoubtedly the best solicitors in London and possibly the whole of the UK for suing their own customers. This business model is a winner. I would certainly use them if I wanted to waste time, be taken to court and lose money for failing to receive a service I had paid for and had the temerity to leave one bad review in consequence.

When will businesses realise

When will businesses realise, taking on 'individuals' who give you a bad review, and trying to hurt them financially is never the answer. Refering to the BBC article. I know you can probably get this comment taken down as it's not a review of such. Customer clearly felt aggrieved, and normally coming to you for legal advice are already coming from a stressful and anxious situation already. You've done this to yourself, you should have dealt with it directly with the customer not taking it legal over a petty 200 quid. Clearly the board/owner think that the principle was worth it.

Clearly wasn't, was it.

Wow this really sets a dangerous precedence.

If someone left a negative review of our firm I would want to put it right by finding out what went wrong and if it was our fault make it right and not let it happen again.

I think the Gentlemen who complained will be inundated with Ambulance chases to fight his appeal.

I read on BBC that you sued one of your clients for £25000 for a negative review. Wow, I’ll just have to remember not to use you ever

Despicable behaviour

Just because something was "legal" doesn't mean it was moral. Like this law firm, for example.

Go take your money elsewhere.

I cannot believe what I just read on the BBC about this company. They sued their own customer because he left a bad review. Staggering beyond belief.
Perhaps this is their new business model?
Ps: I have never been a customer of theirs, nor will ever be.

Mediation is key

Giving a middle ground star review purely for fairness.
I agree the original comments may have warranted some decline in business however, unless people physically contacted you to tell you they were going to use your business, and then didn't, due to the review .. I'm struggling as to how you could prove he negatively affected your company financially. Especially in this current climate.
That said, the word 'scam' is designed to instill fear into the reader and as such, stop them from using your services.
Just one thing though ... do you not think it may have been a wise idea to merely discuss this directly with the customer on trust pilot so you could showcase your great customer service skills to everyone whom might have been put off by him? Then, if he made further defamatory comments you would be within your rights to sue him and people would likely have backed you in your decision and made your business stronger?
That would have been my actions in this and I don't need a law degree to deal with complaints in the manner I do. There is always a middle ground for everyone and surely, as solicitors, this is something you aspire to daily? A settlement agreeable to both parties?
Instead, you chose to potentially ruin someone's life, cost them their home and family....that can lead to losing a life and that is what is going to cost you far more than £25000

Lessons to be learnt here for everyone

An outdated website

An outdated website, terrible type face, colour scheme, they should be chasing their graphic designer for money back on that logo too, looks like a boomer firm ran by boomers for boomers.
