So can you buy an Aston privately then put it into the main dealer for a service and inspection then get a twelve-month warranty put on the car?

just curious, thx.

You can indeed, but it needs to be a specifc inspection, not a service. Around £800.00 I think, and is applicable if warranty is not contiguous. (And you have to have any\all relevant issues fixed before commencement of warranty).

I wonder if they're any better at spotting problems when doing those inspections than they are when doing the pre-sale inspections on their own Timeless stock .......

My first one had a leaking gearbox oil cooler (drips on the ground leaking) that they managed not to spot rolleyes

I,m sure they will miss most things Pete, but they will certainly charge for the privilege. I think it would be better to go to BR if you wanted the car check properly.

Wonder how many of us had issues with our timeless inspected cars?

My previous V8VS had an old lunchbox in the back under the seat full of mouldy bread from the previous owners kids, and had to be immediately sent back due to emerging wing mirror corrosion and a briefly misplaced log book. Hardly the top end of attention to detail but I did love the car.

My timeless inspection included N/A for the convertible top operation even though it was a Volante, do they check anything?.

This must be the most extreme example we have ever heard.
How is it possible to miss a folding roof ?

Cayman black, yes the new owner can take it over, I bought mine privately and had no issues swapping the extended warranty to me.

No, I believe it must carry over and extend from the 3 year manufacturers warranty. Then they can keep tabs on what has been done/changed on the car.

Better keep your inspection and warranty monies for another day, found the warranty was poor value for money, only paid out when a part actually failed. I had an inspection that established the handbrake cable was corroded and due to break. The warranty would not cover soon to be faults, so I paid out for the repair rather than running the risk of driving with no handbrake!

But, I think that the purpose of the inspection is to be sure the car is in tip-top condition 'before' the warranty is applied, That's how read it and would indeed do it if I were the warranty company. Biggest problem for me is unscrupulous dealers who use it as a pay for pair tool once the owner brings up the fault post purchase, yet those same dealers would not issue a warranty on car that was brought to them with faults in isolation. They most likely for example even chipped the car on price when taking in, getting the warranty company to pay for the faults after sale. iyswim.

Which they then get paid to repair. Triple whammy!

I'm sure it's no coincidence that both my Vantages generated a significant list of things that needed sorting shortly after purchase and then ran virtually faultlessly thereafter.
