Hi all. Age old question, only perhaps behind the classic “what is the best tyre for...”

I’ve got a Range Rover Sport at the moment but it annoys me (fuel economy, diesel, bork factor for a 2011 car).

Looking for an estate, for c £15k-£16k. Just me and my mrs plus our Doberman so doesn’t need to be huge.

I’m a bit of a snob, I only do around 6k/7k miles a year, commute is like 6 miles each way. Have access to an Abarth 595 for shorter journeys.

Like 330d (had a 4 series and loved it but would work with the dog), quite like the Octavia VRS but as stated im a snob.

Just don’t really know what to look at?

Fuel economy not too much of an issue as long as it is over 25mpg

Thanks in advance all

Let’s start with the obvious, Mercedes E class, BMW 5 series, Audi A6. All available with 4 or 6 cylinder petrol or Diesel engines. Take your pick

Octavia vRS estate is a great car, especially with DSG.

You will get a lot more (newer, less miles) for your money than so-called premium brands, and also probably a better, more reliable car overall too.

Indeed they’re good suggestions. But a touch boring. E class is a no as I detest the way they look. Similar issue with the A6 and 5 series. It doesn’t need to be huge...more of a 3 series size.

C class then? My C 300 gets 48 mpg and 0-60 in a shade over 6 seconds.....

Sorry yes. I like the 330D BUT I don’t need diesel. I should have been more clear

Good list (I’ll ignore the cactus!).

C class is tight in the back, and not great in the front. Spend more on a S213 E class.

I love that. But it’s private I think isn’t it? I’d need to PX my RRS frown

I think they’re just over budget sadly. And that’s for a leggy one. I’d prefer a Cupra estate tbh

The cls or cla estate would also be good.

I’ll have another look. But to be honest I don’t want to spend over £15k...so I might be out of look

It would, but it’s basically diesel only frown
