The Anthea Turner cartoon on Twitter
Discussion
I see the Twitterarti are in a massive outrage over the cartoon Anthea Turner posted (and has now apologised for).
Disabled shaming apparently, and never mind that there isn't a disabled person shown or mentioned, just a morbidly obese person.
Never mind also that the cartoon makes a perfectly valid point...

Looks like Anthea is a JHB fan. Disabled shaming apparently, and never mind that there isn't a disabled person shown or mentioned, just a morbidly obese person.

Except that it doesn't.In fact it is completely ignorant of the point and trying to pretend that a disease which affects everyone is solely the responsibility and problem of fat and/or disabled people.
Which is utterly incorrect.
If you have a modicum of intelligence, it insults your intelegence.... Ergo calling the author an idiot is a perfectly natural reaction.

Would knowing that some of the steroid treatments for multiple sclerosis have a side effect of causing weight gain make any difference to your thinking? This, combined with the difficulty in moving, let alone exercising, due to the pain, can lead to rapid weight gain. captain_cynic said:

It's not blaming everything on fat people, it's simply highlighting the hypocrisy of people who don't care about their own health (hence the McDonalds cartons) demanding that others live a life of solitude in order to protect that same health.

Turners cartoon/comments are unforgivable and she really has let herself down. Would those defending her on here go and tell a disabled person it was their fault they are disabled?
PHs has sunk to a new low.
Generally people don't choose to be disabled but lots of people choose to be fat by eating (for example) too many MacDonalds. I'd have thought it pretty obvious it's the latter group the cartoon's poking fun at....PHs has sunk to a new low.
