DV connection not working

The DV out connection from my Canon MV3iMC has packed up, which means I can't transfer any video to the PC now!

I recently built a new PC, but could not get the firewire connection working properly as it seemed to be USB2. I connected it back to my old PC and it worked fine. I then transferred the IEEE1394 PCI card to the new PC (which recognised it) but that didn't help the camera. Now it doesn't work on either PC. I know all my firewire ports are OK and the cable has been tested on a friends camera.

I also tried the camera on a friends PC with no luck - simply does not see it.

Any ideas?

If you need a tape trasfering to CD let me know, I will do it for you
