My filler cap is basically shagged. I've never had a key and the locking mechanism was screwed anyway. Looking at it it appears to have been bodged together at some point with a couple of self tappers all the way through, what remains of, the nylon assembly.

What are the options in terms of replacement or refurb? The Lotus replacement is £120!

Check out the similar thread on british-cars.co.uk

One member tracked down a supplier of the lockable internals from the States.

I recently ordered two for approx $50 and they arrived within 10 days - can be ordered online from Rock auto.

Copied from British cars:

The correct inner cap is the Stant part # 10501 Pre-release locking fuel cap.
Google searches had produced a couple of places to buy it in the states and I chose RockAuto as it was the most positive about shipping abroad. Link is here:

The aluminium outer can then be removed and the new inner bonded in it's place.

To remove the old one I used a bit of brute force (hammer and screwdriver) and heated the aluminium up to loosen the sikaflex holding the remainder in.
