Hi

After 4 years out of the saddle, I've got myself a shiny TL1000R today.

My first Twin, and dont I just know it.

I expected it to be different to the 7r i had last, but this is a whole different kettle of fish.

This pulls like a train from low, but then redlines at what feels like the strongest point.. I am used to the 4's running out of breath after having their necks wrung... and then needing an upshift.. Today ive hit the limiter soooo many times.. I feel like I am now short shifting :| Is this a TL trait, or all twins?

Still, loving it.. tyres felt a little skittish at first with aggressive lean angles, but after a few miles scrubbing, they now feel at home.

100 miles, 11 litres of fuel used.. gotta love the economy :)

Anyway, Hi :)

God even reading this makes me want a V-twin again, you just feel more like you've got something 'alive' under you, they're a lot more involving, the torque and the way it effects the whole bike, shutting off mid corner for example, they buck and weave around a lot more than a straight four, which i like :-)

Hi Jamie!

I went from a 7r to a twin as well - that was a bit of a culture shock! mine had bllx fuel consumption though!
Anyway - welcome back to biking - although I can't really say that wholeheartedly as I've got the blade in MCN next week

given todays events, not had much of a chance to take any pix yet.

Will have them added to my profile soon.

I have noticed its very 'grabby' at low revs, lurches forward of a little throttle, then grinds to a halt of you roll off the throttle.. doesnt make for smooth ambleing thru traffic :|

Back brake seems useless, fronts are very good... didnt rate them much at first, until I actually looked at the speedo and realised how much they WERE doing

The clutch is very long.. needs quite a bit of distance to fully disengage, but I'd read that already.

I will stick some more miles on it later, just rolled past 1000 miles last night after the trip up north from London to visit parents. Time to play for real

Welcome to v-twin, and TL in particular, ownership! I love my TLS and don't care what the critics say. For me short-shifting is half the fun - just pop it up another gear, open the throttle and ride the torque - still makes me smile after 4 years of it.
