Does anyone have a contact address or e-mail for someone at SP who can kick some butt please? Following an earlier complaint I have £200 in goodwill credit but they keep sending me bills for £27 and I can't get it through their thick skulls. As it is the bill will go red and they will start sending letters about bailiffs and credit scores etc so I'd like to kill it before then.

Thanks very much! There are six Scottish Powers there; any idea which one is best for domestic energy issues - Mr Ward?

I'd use the group CEO email - your query will not be responded to by the CEO but obviously the complaints dept as a 'get this off of my desk' complaint.

I feel your pain

I closed my account with them end of December after having ALWAYS been in credit with them... Final bill £2,300 !!

After calling to complain, they sorted it out.... Amended bill £5,516 !!

They're still trying to work out what has gone wrong......

It's laughable. Here's a clip from one of the 100+ e-mails I have on the case... 'I'm taking the trouble to follow this up because whilst you have sent me an invoice that shows zero balance, I then received (all on the same day) conflicting bills for £103.97, £281.08, £141.08, £95.27, £68.95 and £336.83. Furthermore I've just had a payment reminder for £27.31.'

Have they told your there is a "Technical fault with your account"?

I had murder with them years ago - basically they hadn't billed us since a routine meter replacement and were taking about £25 a month by DD which was nowhere near enough to cover the cost. Matters came to a head when we moved and wanted to close the account - like you we got about 20 different bills, all with different amounts on but none of which were anything like accurate. We received 3 dated the same date ranging between £214 and £559!

I reckoned we owed them about £750 - but that was going back 2 and a half years and they can only back-bill 12 months where they've made an error. We settled on £200 in the end and I made sure they didn't have a forwarding address!

No, they just kept apologising and making the mess worse. They were very slippery with the goodwill, saying (only the phone) that if I didn't accept the offer and close the complaint I'd have to go to OFGEM who wouldn't give me so much. Hmm. Anyway, even though I accepted, the problems continued so I reopened the complaint and was offered another £100, which I accepted. They then said the dispute was deadlocked and for the last month my e-mails haven't even got an autoreply. So I think maybe they've simply blocked me and are going to let the debt recovery company waste their time. One reason why I'm laying a comprehensive paper trail. Utter ****ts.

We left SP a few years ago (I posted about the shambles on here).
Then the new supplier we went with went bankrupt and sold all their accounts too...... you guessed it.

It's unbelievable. I ended up talking to two different departments. One said 'You're definitely on Tariff X' and the other said 'We don't have that tariff, you're on standard rate'.

SP are hopeless.

I left them several years ago due to various issues and moved to Tonik. Never had a problem with Tonik, then in October they went into administration and all the customers were moved to a new supplier. You guessed it SP, and nearly 5 months later the gas supply hasn't been transferred over.

I've spoken to them numerous times, each time told the move will be completed within 7-14 days. Yet here I still wait, with an unknown amount racking up for the gas supply that I'll eventually be hit with. When I said keep the DD at the level for both, I'm told we can't the gas supply hasn't moved over....

Just going through the complaints process..

Bad luck! Be ready for the phone call saying 'Do you accept £75? OFGEM won't give you that much. Do you accept it and close the case?'

This is interesting as my sister is being chased for a bill she paid when she moved out of her gaff she has rented out for over 8 years. As I understand it, even if there was a bill, because it's over 6 years old they can't persue.

Simon Two, please let us know how you resolve.

Six years is the limit for small claims. Morally I guess it depends whether the bill was correct or not - they can't sue but they might mess up her credit record, if that's important.

I did get a useful reply from SP today thanks to a lead from another PHer, but whether or not that will be the end of it, who knows!

I originally left last October as they couldn't seem to get me on the next decent tariff. That of course got the 'retentions department' springing into action and I made the mistake of falling for a new cheaper tariff nobody had mentioned before. However all it did was add to the layers of mess. I finally moved to Shell, who were even cheaper! SP started pestering me on the phone up to three times a day. So SP are very good at pestering, and pumping out reams of contradictory bills and final reminders, but entirely useless at anything else.

The fact that the retentions department is the most efficient bit of SP says it all. If SP was competent, they wouldn't need one.

Cheers.

To be clear she paid the bill as she was looking for tenants so wanted a clean sheet.

We have a separate 3” thick file just on Scottish Power for 6 flats we own. Big mistake for going with them when we converted the building.
All the accounts are incorrect. They bill us in dozens of various names, even ones that just say Ltd Ltd! Loads without meter readings, some within the same week with the correct address but different amounts.

We’ve gone to the CEOs office. We had a reply from someone high up who personally said she’s deal with it, then never. 100`s of calls from them and Mrs C tells them the exact errors and says send me a correct bill and we’ll pay. The debt collection agencies bounce it back to them and this has gone on for no less than 4yrs!

They are a complete joke and have wasted dozens of hours of our time. I seriously don’t think it’ll ever end. We told all the tenants to change suppliers and they still billed them for months afterwards even though the other supplier was charging too.

We got switched to them late last year when Tonik Energy went belly up. I immediately started a switch, but they still claim I owed them £280 for gas and electric. For a week. I'm fighting them at the moment as they took the money despite the account being in dispute and an email from them saying payment would not be taken.

Useless getz !!

So, 2 months on and it's still not fixed...

Complaint raised, account sorted (back into credit) complaint closed, new bill for over £5,000, complaint re-opened

No-one at Scottish Power has the first clue as to what is going on
