I have a Vantage ISA containing LS 60 (Income) funds: being the income fund there have been distributions & so there is also a cash sum in the ISA - about £2000. I went to invest it & half way through the process it changed from showing having £20,000 to £18,000 left on this year's ISA allowance, which confused me. Surely as the cash is within the ISA it doesn't count towards my annual allowance?

That would be my understanding/expectation - it's not been paid into an associated general investment account for some odd reason?

You've confirmed the the existing investment is definitely within an ISA?

Investing existing cash in an ISA wrapper should have no impact on your ISA allowance.

Either you've made a mistake or their system is wrong.

Just a guess.

Had it been an "Accumulation" fund it would have been automatically reinvested within the ISA.

As it is "Income" maybe the cash has been paid out as cash to your account, and is no longer within the ISA wrapper.

If you then try to pay that back in it will count as part of your years £20k allowance.

As I say, just a guess, I may have got totally the wrong end of the stick.
