Wonder if anyone could help, we have a dog who LOVES his squeaky toys, but within a day or 2 of being given to him they are usually dead.

Are there any good brands, or good manufacturers who make better quality squeaky toys which will not be destroyed by dog chewing?

A day or two! we are lucky if the squeak survives fifteen minuets.

I think you'll struggle to find something that a really determined chewer won't destroy, but I found the Kong toys fairly strong. They are not particularly cheap though. Not recommending you get them from P@H necessarily, just the first place I found in a search:

The yellow 'tennis ball' style toys (which come in all sorts of shapes) are also good. I had one shaped like a bone and one shaped a bit like a stick.

To be honest, I've given up buying toys for my lot, because they just rip them apart within seconds, even thick rubber toys get chewed into pieces. The only ones that last are the rope 'tuggy' toys.

We get old kids toys from the charity shops. Not indestructible but definitely built to a better spec & last longer.

We've given up on squeaky toys for our two dogs. Once they've bitten through them they lose their squeak.

The best chew toys we've found are the little blue dispensers that come free with washing liquid. They'll chomp on them for hours, they don't lose their shape and if they do manage to destroy one we just dig another one out of the box.

Kong are usually good. This ones still going strong after 2 months.

"Friends" sent us this one at Christmas. We will be trying to find something more annoying for them next xmas.

We have two squeaky balls which I think where a £1 each from Tesco and they have lasted ages.

Any other toy like a soft animal, or rubber one gets ripped in a few mins and stuffing everywhere. They tend to chew on the rubber and end up eating it.

We prefer to buy hooves, or yak bones from the pet store, last longer and better for them.

Mums jack Russell's used to constantly destroy their toys within a few hours. I modified one once, which lasted a good six months.

I placed the bellows within an old gardening glove, placed the squeaker itself inside a metal tube off cut (deburred), attached this to the bellows with high strength tape (I used cow tail tape from the farm), covered the metal in tape too so there was a cushioning layer, then stuffed it all back in the toy and stiyched it up.

It worked well, but was painful if they shook it hard and it clouted your ankle! Eventually it died as they squashed the metal tube.... I guess I was bored that Christmas holiday and took it on as a mini project smile
