I've only recently realised how important Richard Wright was to the sound of Pink Floyd.

The Stooges. What a great band. Everyone knows about Iggy Pop but The Stooges, banging away in the background, were doing a superb job.

That having a massive drum kit doesn't make you so much better than someone with a far smaller kit.

How amazingly different, yet both equally awesome The Go-Go’s and Fun Boy Threes versions of ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ are.

I love the thought of both songs being played across each respective side of the Atlantic relaying a message that very few perhaps got (the affair between Terry Hall and Jane Weidlin, they co-wrote the song)

In a similar vein, The Blockheads

As a rhythm unit, tighter than a tight thing pulled very tight

And from the same era, until recently I didn't know that Golden Brown by The Stranglers was a cover of the Dave Brubeck tune and Cornwell's guitar solo is pretty much note for note compared to the original sax solo

Golden Brown? You got that from YouTube - the tune has been synched with an older performance by Brubeck. I think.

Just checked, and I stand corrected!

Saw a 1966 video of "The Monks", ex-American GIs, and realised 60's music wasn't all psychedelia or oooh la la la Merseybeat.
