I bought a set of springs off eBay, and I don't know which go on the front and which go on the rear. My car currently has a set of H&R lowering springs that look very different, and since I'm taking them to a shop to have the springs swapped, I won't have a chance to compare them "loose".

Does anyone know if the taller/thinner springs go on the front or the rear? The only markings I have are red and yellow dots.

Also, if anyone wants to confirm that I have them right-side-up, that would be nifty...I've never seen a set in situ.

The right side is up, the flat grinded side is the lower point.
You (almost) cant mount them wrong...

What model / year do you have? Checking the sping wire diameter should be the easiest to do.

2007 V8 Vantage.

OEM springs are 13.5mm and 11mm, H&R lowering springs on the car are 11.5mm front, 13mm rear.

Seems probable that the fatties go on the rear, but I don't have much to go by!

Using this AstonMartinBits advert for a spring as a point of reference, I'd suggest the two on the left are front springs.

Welp, I hope I got it right! With the H&R springs off, I'm seeing that they're fat and short in the rear and thin and tall in the front, whereas the OEM springs are (hopefully) fat and tall in the rear and thin and short up front.

If anyone ever gets bored and feels like measuring their stock springs, it might bring me solace in this cold world!

Unfortunately havent got access to my Vantage before the weekend.

However I would follow the nomenclature on the H&R
HA=HinterAchse=Rear Axle (thicker wire, if my eyes dont betray me)
VA=VorderAchse=Front Axle

As these numbers are linked to TÜV papers etc-they should have followed the OEM springs closely.
much more likely that somebody mistakingly exchanged pictures in a display...

The thicker springs fit to the rear without doubt. The ground flat face is the bottom and the stepped coil fits at the top to seat in the stepped upper seat.

So on yours, yellow are fronts, red are rears and yes, you do have them the correct way up.

You cannot use the H&R springs as a guide because they have a progressively wound coil spring.
