I think it's been getting harder of late; a month and a half in and I don't think anybody's qualified for Champion's League yet.
I've made a point of tuning in for as long as I can remember (a lot of years!) and the contestants' knowledge tends to mirror my own: the ability to recall a track from 5 decades ago - before many of the contestants were born - but not one from last year. Which reinforces my opinion that all the best tunes have been written, and most modern stuff is disposable, forgettable dross.

Gary Davis had a great quiz 35 years ago but can’t recall name. It was over 5 lunchtimes and I think was something for the almost intellectual ? Anyone recall.?
Wiki says - but I don’t agree

The Bit in the Middle Edit
In 1984, Davies took over the Radio 1 lunchtime show. He called it The Bit in the Middle which consisted of features, such as The Day-To-Day Challenge, in which the same person would go on air each weekday to answer quiz questions and try to upgrade their prize, and Willy on the Plonker, which involved crazed piano-playing of a well-known hit for listeners to identify.
