Weird clicking from under car!

OK this sounds daft but I get a weird click-click noise from the front suspension / front chassis area of the Griff when I drive my car out of the garage! It happens as I roll down the slight slope of my drive and up the camber of the road, so the car dips a bit and then rises and it only happens once! If I reverse back onto the drive and go out again nothing happens? It sounds like two bit of GRP clicking that have got caught together somehow but what and why only when cold and only once? Any ideas? Rich...

My guess would be a worn suspension bush. Have a look and see if the bush is sitting nicely in the middle of the gap or whether its hard up against either the front or back.

Replacements can be had with the Cerbera type thrust washers fitted to keep things square. A good dousing in WD40 can usually quieten it down until you can get it fixed.

Could just be something else of course? Maybe you just don't hear it in normal driving?

When you come out of the garage does the noise happen before or after touching the brakes or handbrake?

OK I just went and pushed the car out of the garage (by hand) then doused the suspension bushes (and steering UJ) with WD40. I don't use the h'brake in the garage, then pushed the car down the drive and let it roll up the camber in the road. Click-Click started engine, backed up drive and tried again, very slight click, once more nothing. So not suspension then, nor brakes, perhaps it's the body settling on the chassis after the last drive then flexing as it crosses the gutter? Definitly a sort of GRP on metal type sound. Rich...
