Before the 991, Bose was the top upgrade option and is disappointing at best in the 997.

I have an old set of hifi Bose speakers in a box somewhere and they're the worst thing I've ever listened to.

Just like Beats they are unbelievably overpriced and average at best, for the life or me I don't get why Porsche bothers, shame Burmester doesn't seem an option on GT models.

Yes Bose in the GT4 is suitably underwhelming.

As touch on above I find Bose underwhelming in most models, It made a different in the 996, post 996 IMHO it adds nothing.

I have two Cayennes one with Bose, one without, I find the non-Bose car to have better sound!

Collected my 718 GT4 recently. Love it.
It has Bose & DAB.
DAB wasn't working at delivery so had been missed off the PDI.
The sound system is OK but i'm comparing it to the Burmester sound in my old 911
Fiddling with the sound system I've found that setting the fader to 100% rear just gives a very tinny sound from what sounds like a single tweeter. Porsche Chester tells me that's normal and that the Bose system just has a couple of small tweeters in the rear. Is that right?
There are no rear mid-bass drivers in a Cayman.

I am not sure that the sound system was the main priority for the engineers developing the GT4. Just take a nice set of headphones with you if sounds are your thing

Except on the 718 Spyder, where it’s excellent, clap

Never bother speccing expensive optional sound packages on a GT Porsche even the relatively civilised 718 GT4.

You won't recoup any more ££ on resale and more importantly the cars overall sound and GT engines are all the music you really ever need.

I had a 987 manual Boxster with Bose a couple of years ago. Eighteen months ago I changed it for a 981 pdk, superior spec in many ways but non-Bose. The sound quality is fine, I don’t feel it’s inferior to the Bose, I’m a keen music fan and have an excellent hifi system at home but never felt the need for high end stuff in my cars.
