Interior plastic repair
Discussion
Any suggestions on how to fix the damage to my glovebox (cars 2 months old!)
A nice gouge from my drill

I’ve seen people recommend black pen and rub with a screwdriver handle, lighter, and a hairdryer and trim tool. But is there a better way or what way out of them is best.
I did contact the dealer to get a price expecting around the £150 mark for a new glovebox door and it’s come in at £290 which just seems crazy for a plastic door.

I've seen a smart repairer sort similar. Basically they take a latex mould of the pattern from elsewhere on that glovebox panel & then fill the damage. I've seen it done for phone cradle removal etc when there's screwholes to backfill. (Debbie does Dashes was her company name lol)
^^^This.Certainly worth a try.
They will paint the lid once the repair is done.
No idea as to cost but a lot less than a replacement!

There are some clever and inventive people out there. How long are you planning to keep the car? If you want to return the car after leasing it then wait until a few months before the car needs to go back and find a glovebox door off a scrap car. If planning to keep the car forever, just don't bother, but if it bothers you then get a black sharpie and colour it in. That's what I'd do, it's up to you how you handle it
If these cars are ripe for modifications like most jap cars are , glove boxes will become available on ebay etc.
At £290 for a new one I would just wait it out. Put an alert for the part number on ebay and google.
Or go hunt down Tommy makkinen and get him to sign the glove box with a large sharpie
